The MS in Global Innovation and Leadership through Engineering provides a unique opportunity for individuals without an undergraduate engineering degree to pursue a graduate-level engineering education. Our program’s technical tracks provide advanced coursework in in-demand engineering disciplines from world-class faculty in the Johns Hopkins Engineering for Professionals program. Multiple Engineering for Professionals programs are currently ranked No. 1 in the nation, including the Engineering Management program, which delivers MSIL’s Engineering Management track.

In conjunction with MSIL’s management track, our students complete a series of engineering courses in one of our technical tracks in consultation with their technical advisor (see list below). The majority of these courses are offered online, compliment the management track through collaborative projects, and allow the flexibility to explore courses in other departments, internships, programming offered by the Pava Center for Entrepreneurship, and more.

Depending on your academic background, you may be required to complete prerequisites in order to enroll in the required courses in your technical track. More information on prerequisites is available below.

Additional Technical Track Details

Please note, the courses listed in each track serve as a general guide, but courses are subject to change. Students must work with their technical advisor on appropriate courses for degree completion.

Prerequisites

Prior education must include prerequisites as determined on a track-by-track basis, and may include Calculus I and II, Statistics and Probability, and Python or Java. Applicants whose prior education does not include the prerequisites listed above may still be admitted to the program. Missing prerequisites may be completed with the Johns Hopkins Engineering for Professionals program or at another regionally accredited institution. These prerequisite courses do not count toward the degree requirements and must be completed before beginning any technical track courses required for the degree.

*Continuation in the technical track is contingent upon grades received in prerequisite courses.

Any deviations from the listed courses for a track MUST be approved by the track advisor and submitted to the program administrator by email.
