Last week, we welcomed our newest cohort of Master of Science in Global Innovation and Leadership through Engineering students at the Homewood Campus. Ready to dive into an exciting journey, students embarked on a week of orientation activities designed to both inform and inspire them as they gear up for the semester ahead.

Kicking off the week, the group attended an introduction session, where MSIL Director Sarah Harrison Smith and Center for Leadership Education Director Pam Sheff set expectations for students’ experience in the program. After, the group toured the Imagine Center, where they learned more about the career services Johns Hopkins Life Design Lab offers and participated in a resume workshop.

On Tuesday, students bonded during an improv workshop with Senior Lecturer MC Coghlan and wrapped the day with a welcome reception at Peabody Heights Brewery, where they had the opportunity to get to know each other and their faculty members.

The momentum continued on Wednesday as the cohort enjoyed a walking tour of the neighborhood surrounding campus. On Thursday, students were introduced to a number of on-campus resources available to support their academic success, followed by a tour of the Baltimore Museum of Industry. They capped off the evening with social outing to watch the Baltimore Orioles take on the Houston Astros at Camden Yards.

Through this eventful week of orientation, our newest students have formed connections and gained insights in preparation for the start of the semester and throughout their time in the program.
